This causes bleeding in or around the brain. Possible reasons for this type of bleeding are<br>&#8211; Rupture of an artery due to high blood pressure<br>&#8211; Rupture of an abnormal tangle of blood vessels called an arteriovenous malformation<br>&#8211; Rupture of a small ballooning,a.k.a.an aneurysm, of an artery in the brain <\/li><li>A transient ischaemic attack or a mini stroke happens when a small clot blocks an artery for short period,causing brief paralysis<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Symptoms of a Stroke<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your right brain (RB) controls the left side of the body and your left brain (LB) controls the right side of the body as a result,the symptoms of a stroke occur in the following order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Weakness of face,arm,leg on one side (LB)<\/li><li>Numbness of face,arm,leg on one side (LB)<\/li><li>Slurred speech or loss of speech (RB)<\/li><li>Loss of balance or coordination (LB)<\/li><li>Double vision or loss of vision (RB)<\/li><li>The worst headache in your life (RB)<\/li><li>Giddiness with any of the symptoms (LB)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1354\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img.png 1354w, https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img-300x106.png 300w, https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img-1024x362.png 1024w, https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img-768x272.png 768w, https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img-1170x414.png 1170w, https:\/\/newsletter.kokilabenhospital.com\/its-precious\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/face-arms-speech-time-img-585x207.png 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1354px) 100vw, 1354px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some urgent tests that will be conducted in A&amp;E are<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Blood sugar, serum creatinine, electrolytes<\/li><li>MRI or CT scan of the brain using a contrast dye injection<\/li><li>ECG<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Initial general treatment a stroke patient receives in A&amp;E includes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Breathing stabilisation<\/li><li>Lowering of high blood pressure using intravenous (IV) labetalol<\/li><li>Correction of blood sugar levels using IV glucose or insulin<\/li><li>Treatment of fit using IV fosphenytoin<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>Treatments for Types of stoke<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you or a relative is having a stroke,medical care should be sought urgently. Immediate treatment may minimise the long-term effects of a stroke and prevent death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ischaemic Stroke Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two methods to treat this type of stroke are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Clot-buster injection<\/strong><br>Tissue plasminogen activator can be given through an IV in the arm within four and a half hours from the beginning of stroke symptoms. If successful, it can completely reverse or drastically improve the chances of recovering from a stroke.<\/li><li><strong>Mechanical clot removal<\/strong><br>Also called mechanical thrombectomy, in this method a catheter is passed from artery in the groin to the blocked artery in the brain. The clot is removed using a wire-like device. This procedure should be done within 24 hours from the start of stroke symptoms.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Haemorrhagic Stroke Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In some cases,surgery may be required to drain the blood from the brain of the stroke victim.<\/li><li>If the stroke was caused due to bleeding from an abnormal tangle of blood vessels or an aneurysm, it can be treated surgically by placing a metal clip or by passing a catheter from an artery in the groin to the brain.
